30 Seconds To Mars Go For Guinness World Record December 7 show at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom would set record for Most Shows Performed During a Single Album Cycle

30 Seconds to Mars released This Is War in December 2009 and have spent basically every waking moment since on the road promoting it (when they weren't making 15-minute, NFSW mini-movies, of course). To date, they've played shows on six continents, and now, all that touring will earn them a place in the "Guinness Book of World Records."On December 7, 30STM will perform their 300th — and final — show in support of War, at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. And when that gig is completed, they'll officially set the record for Most Shows Performed During a Single Album Cycle.
That's according to a press release issued Monday (October 17) by the band's spokesperson, which touts the show as "a special Tribus Centum Numerarae concert" and promises that "the band is also planning a special week of unique shows celebrating this milestone, beginning on December 5.""We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City," 30STM frontman Jared Leto said in a statement. "We thought documenting this for posterity with the 'Guinness Book of World Records' would be fun especially as we aren't any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world's largest squash."
Don't downplay a giant squash, dude. Tickets for the record-setting show are now available in an exclusive fan-club pre-sale through the band'swebsite, with tickets being made available to the general public beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. ET

Chevelle Name New Album,"HATS OF THE BULLS"

Chevelle packed their last album, 2009’s Sci-Fi Crimes, with radio-happy rock tracks that ruled the airwaves, from “Jars” to “Letter from a Thief.” Now, fans are elated the gents are at it again. The band’s latest release will arrive Dec. 6, and the guys finally chose a name for the LP, “Hats Off to the Bull,” as reported by Cincinnati radio station WEBN-FM. Joe Barresi of Tool and Queens of the Stone Age notoriety produced the album.
So, why did the trio take three whole years between albums? According to drummer Sam Loeffler, such things simply take time. “It took us a little bit of time to do it, as any record does,” he told the South Bend Tribune. “We did it with [producer] Joe Barresi who has done some of our favorite records.”
Chevelle are currently on the road with ’90s alternative rockers Bush and Filter, and the jaunt is on the books to close out Oct. 28 in San Antonio. Loeffler says the guys were raring to get back on the road after nearly a year off.  “We’ve got to get our legs back,” he said. “It’s nice to have a break. We have been off for almost a year, just doing intermittent shows, just one or two shows at a time. Being back on tour after almost a year of being off is good.”
The first single off Chevelle’s new album, the metal-laced “Face to the Floor,” impacts radio Monday (Oct. 10). The song foreshadows the upcoming album’s heavy guitar riffs and thunderous rhythms, alongside Chevelle’s
characteristic catchy songwriting. Chances are, it will be the most added track on the rock dials this week. (Photo: Chevelle via Facebook.)

Good Charlotte Releasing Mixtape, Then Taking a Break'We're stepping away from the grind of making records and touring for a minute,' says Benji Madden

The mixtGood Charlotte are releasing a mix tape,Before The Fame: The Madden Brothers, on October 1st. "It's all new artists – Machine Gun Kelly, Rockie Fresh," Benji Madden tells Rolling Stone. ape will be the only music that fans hear from the Maddens for awhile, though. "We're stepping away from the grind of making records and touring for a minute, just to have fun and be creative like we were when we were 15," Benji says.
Good Charlotte released their last album,Cardiology, in November 2010, their fifth album since their debut in 2000. Since then they've also kept up a very active touring schedule, but both have full liveswith his twin and bandmate Joel having two kids and the brothers now both 32, they have full lives outside of music to concentrate on. However, for acts like Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Evanescence, all of whom released or are releasing new albums in 2011 five years after their last project the break has been great for them artistically and personally. Could the same hold true for the Maddens?
"Absolutely, that's what every artist that's our senior has told us and we're already having a blast in our studio with all these new artists making music just for fun," Joel says. "And the mix tape's free, they're gonna get it for free, there's no quota we're trying to fill, there's no machine we're trying to fuel, we just want to make music with new artists and god bless EMI, they let us do what we want."

Slipknot Call Bassist Paul Gray 'The Best Of Us' 'Paul Gray was the essence of the band Slipknot,' percussionist Shawn 'Clown' Crahan says at Iowa press conference.

In an emotional press conference held in Des Moines, Iowa, Tuesday evening (May 25), members of Slipknot remembered bassist Paul Gray, who was found dead in an Iowa hotel room Monday morning.
The eight remaining members of the group — all appearing unmasked — spoke at length about their friend and bandmate, recalling a man who went above and beyond the call of duty for both Slipknot and their fanatic fanbase.
"He was everything that was wonderful about this band and about this group of people," frontman Corey Taylor said. "The only way I can sum up Paul Gray is 'love.' Everything he did, he did for everyone around him whether he knew you or not ... and that's what he's left behind for us: absolute love. I will miss him with every fiber of my heart, as will everybody at this table and everyone who knew him. He was the best of us."
"It's very important that everybody on the outside of us understands that Paul Gray was the essence of the band Slipknot. ... Paul was there from the very, very beginning, and none of us would be on the path that we're on now in life or have the sorts of life that we have without him," percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan added. "Paul loved the fans. He was kind of the person in the band that really wanted everybody in the band to always get along and just concentrate on the band. He was a really great friend and a really great person. He's going to be sadly missed, and the world is going to be a different place without him."
Slipknot did not take any questions from the media and allowed Gray's wife, Brenna, to speak last about her late husband.
"Paul was my husband, an amazing person, and I want people to remember him for that," she said, fighting back tears. "And his daughter will remember him for the way he was."
The couple were expecting their first child, reportedly due in September.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Des Moines Register reported that an autopsy of Gray's body revealed no cause of death and that the Polk County medical examiner is awaiting results of toxicology testing — which could take up to six weeks to complete — before ruling on a cause of death in the case.

Linkin Park fundrasier for japan Tsunami Relief.

Los Angeles alt-metal band Linkin Park played an intimate benefit gig Wednesday night at their hometown Mayan Theatre -- the smallest venue they've played in over a decade. Together with opening act B'z, the best-selling artist in the history of Japan, the two bands supported Music for Relief (MFR) and solicited fans to donate funds to the Japan Tsunami Relief.
Fans who gave at least $500 were invited to the gig with a guest, while the top 50 contributors were treated to extras, like a meet-and-greet with the bands and signed instruments, and the top fundraiser watched the gig from the stage. The secret venue was announced only to qualifying fundraisers, and for good reason: Linkin Park, who usually sell out arenas, uncorked a 23-song set to 1,100 hardcore fans
